Our Capabilities

We offer a wide range of machining processes including turning, drilling, tapping, milling, shaping, boring, grinding, and finishing. Our state-of-the-art equipment includes horizontal and vertical boring mills, CNC turning centers, lathes, shapers, surface grinders, milling machines, and multi-axis machining centers. This array of machinery allows us to handle both large and small machining projects with exceptional accuracy and quality.

Our History

Founded in 1964 as Albert A. Hammersmith & Son Mfg. Co. in Horton, Kansas, our company began as a father-son partnership focusing on general steel fabrication. Through innovation and development of our own production equipment, we quickly gained competitive advantages that fueled our growth.

In 1973, we incorporated as Hammersmith Mfg. & Sales, Inc., and in 1985, we expanded our capabilities by acquiring SWS Manufacturing. This acquisition enhanced our precision-machining capabilities, opening new markets and product opportunities. In 1995, we further diversified by acquiring Vail Fabricating, Inc., and introduced severe duty construction attachment systems under the Vail Products, Inc. subsidiary.

Over the years, we have continuously upgraded our technology and expanded our precision machining capabilities, establishing ourselves as a trusted component manufacturer for many original equipment manufacturers across North America.

Today, Hammersmith Mfg. & Sales Inc. operates from a three-structure, 88,000 sq. ft. facility in Horton, KS, and an additional 125,000 sq. ft. facility in Holton, KS, added in 2006.

In 2014, Vail Products launched land management attachments for skid steers, compact track loaders,and excavators, further expanding our product offerings.
